Casino Themed Parties

Casino themed parties are some of the most satisfying and successful major events being thrown today. Plus, we're starting to see casino themed parties rearing their heads in some of the less expected areas. Some of the top casino themed parties that we've seen in recent months include big corporate events and celebrity birthday parties, but we'd like to share two of the more unusual stories with you.

The Wedding Party

A young couple had met in a chat room at an online casino. After a few months of chatting to each other at the virtual tables, they realised they had a connection that was deeper than just idle banter. Taking a risk, they decided to meet each other in the real world. Amusingly, the halfway point between their homes was the only legal casino in their state. They spent a blissful evening hanging out and talking while playing their favourite games. The chemistry was definitely there, and a few weeks later the couple got engaged. Because of the way they'd met, their wedding planner suggested the concept of casino themed parties to them, and they went for it. After a traditional church wedding, the reception was thrown in a local hall.

It was decked out in deliberately tacky casino paraphernalia, and alongside the dancing and the buffet were two roulette tables, a craps table and a multi player blackjack table. They even had a line of one armed bandits in the entrance hall. Like many people who throw casino themed parties like this, the couple had opted not to have real money at the tables, but instead gave out joke prizes for wins. They did announce that they were taking cash for chips, which went towards a down payment on their new home. The event was a huge success.

The Poker Fund Raiser

We've seen a rise in casino themed parties being thrown as charity fund raisers, and we'd like to share one particular story with you. Tragedy can strike at the most unexpected times, and for one family living in Dakota, this happened in the form of a tornado that destroyed their farm house. Their father wasn't sure what he was going to do as his insurance wasn't extensive enough to completely cover the cost of building a new home.

Luckily his poker buddies rallied round. He had been host of a regular monthly poker game they all played at, so they used this theme to throw a massive multi-table tournament with unlimited buy-ins, all in aid of the new build. Hearing about the good cause, more than 60 local people turned up, all willing to fork over the $100 buy in that would go towards helping the family. This resulting in a seven table tournament that ran over two days. In the end, after the relatively minor expense of hiring in croupiers had been covered they had made more than $10,000, which went a long way to putting a roof over the family's head.
