Beginner's Guide To Playing Craps - Dice - For All Fun Casino Guests
The game of craps has a reputation of being one of the hardest fun casino games to grasp but if you can spend some time getting to grips with the game it will be well worth your effort. Craps is an extremely involving and social game. Every player at the table is playing against the house which generates a great feeling amongst players with everyone wishing wins on everyone else. Craps is played at a specially designed craps table with a single pair of dice. In simple terms, the main aim of the game is to place bets on the outcome of a roll or series of rolls.
There are 36 combinations that can result from rolling 2 dice and bets are placed at the start of each round by all players around the table. The player rolling the dice is known as 'the shooter' and rolls the 2 dice from one end of the playing surface to the other. The first roll by the shooter sets the 'point number' and a marker known as the puck is placed on the corresponding number on the table. This number becomes the target for future rolls during the round All players around the table have a chance to bet on which number they think the shooter will roll and the returning odds for their bets are calculated on the odds of the specified number being rolled against the chance of a 7 coming up (7 being the most likely number as there are a total of 6 different ways to roll a 7.) If a 7 is rolled by the shooter the round is over and the dice move to the next player around the table.
There are a number of other bets available in the game of craps. The most basic bet is the 'pass line' bet and pays even money. If you place a bet at the pass line before the first roll of the new shooter's round you are looking for either a 7 or an eleven to be rolled. This results in an automatic win. However, if a 2, 3 or twelve are rolled you lose your bet. If any other number is rolled then this number becomes the point number. Once a point number has been decided you will win if the shooter can roll the number before rolling a 7. A bet at the 'don't pass line' basically reverses the bet above. If a 3 or twelve is rolled you win, a 7 or eleven means you lose. If a 2 is rolled, a 'push' is called and your bet is returned. Another type of bet is placed at the 'come' or 'don't come' line. These bets follow the same format as the pass/don't pass bets but are made after the point number has been decided. A 'place' bet can also be made, this is a bet on an individual number. With a place bet you are betting on a 7 being rolled before the specified number. You don't usually get great odds on a place bet as the bet has quite a high probability of occurring.
A 'field' bet is one of the most common bets to be made. The field bet is placed on an individual number and you are betting on a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 being rolled. Most bets of this nature are even money with the 2 or 12 often being 3/1. There are a number of other bets available at the table including 'any craps', 'horn' and 'hardway'. These are all known as proposition bets and are easy one time bets to make. They focus on the next roll only and the numbers covered are clearly marked on the table.
